This post is to ask about personal choices when it comes to HAIR COLOR.

Despite whether your a locks lover, like me or your programmed to think of locks as a dried pieces of rope that the hype would like you to believe, (Which is not true by the way). If you have not seen someone with beautiful locks free flowing and healthy, you would be lead to believe what you hear.

However every one has a personal preference of what hair colors are considered to be be sexy, retro or just plain ghetto. Both men and women, all races and on any hairstyle everyone has an opinion of this subject.
Picture it: Your walking in the mall and coming towards you is a woman over 18 years old, who has on blue shoes, a white shirt, and yes black hair with bright BLUE ends.
Now for some, the thought process would be:
"WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE THINKING?"
Hair colors like blue, ice bleach blonde or pink, white; red or even a traditional Blondie on a black women are seen to be more "Taboo", to most black people and every other racial group. Now of course their are exceptions to every rule and their are a select few who can pull off being a Blondie or red headed and rock it like a super star. But never the less some colors were created for Halloween but are now being worn as everyday hairstyles. This debate goes across all economic lines and races. When dealing with your profession or even being seen as a powerful force when these styles are being worn on a daily basis. Most careers, not jobs when working under someone or in a business setting will NOT allow an employee to work with rainbow shaded hair. When dealing with the public, more natural shades are wanted to represent that company or organization. When looking for a professional to provide a service to you their outward appearance has to do in part with your decision to purchase from them.
So sad, but so true.
Anyone agree or disagree?
Does your hair color matter, locks or not?
I think so.

I can easily walk into a convenient store or fast food joint and see all colors of the rainbow on various heads. I've even seen canary yellow and it wasn't pretty.

First impressions will always be a factor in your choice of appearance. You may want blue or yellow or pink hair but will it deter potential employers? It could be a good thing if you're trying to be in a hair show or something.

I don't mind brown blondes or auburns but bleach blond and Ronald McDonald red are just too much. It's one thing for the color to enhance your appearance in a positive manner and another when it's comical.

I've never dyed my hair cause I really like my natural color!

Being that I am a Dentist in private practice, I don't think my new patients would take me seriously with blue hair.
However I do plan to color my hair, maybe to a lighter brown to hide the gray and later with some honey brown highlights. I joke with my staff and long time patients and tell them I may come in a blonde, they say "Alright Bone-She'qua", or Bone for short!

I have to agree with you both completely! Now I have seen a select few with red or very light brown hair and it looked wonderful on them. There are also black people with naturally red hair. I have two cousins with nature red hair. However it is not "roaster red". Now with highlights the color is support to be true, just not pink or blue or my goodness not canary yellow ..LOL.
To each it's own, I just wonder what career people are working in when I see these hair-dos worn everyday.

I used to be a red head, but that was when I was in college and worked in an art store. I rocked the hell out of it too! But I am a professional accountant and mommy, I can't see myself going back to those days. I see myself as more conservative. I have a friend with bright red traditonal locks, they suit her, but they wouldn't suit me. I love my ebony black hair, and I am still unsure if I want to dye another color... only time will tell.

I personally could not do a bright hair color. I have naturally blue black hair that is hard to dye. But I like having dark hair. So like most things do what suits ya ;-).

I think hair color matters, but only as far as what my own perception of a person originally is. Usually after getting to know 'em...I get past the color of hair.

Hi Sez! I have no regrets at all about getting locked or SL'd for that matter. The only thing that I would have done differently is not dye my hair so many colors, but I had to in order to find that perfect color for my hair. Numerous dyeing caused my locks to bunch up and unravel at the ends a great deal but I don't really mind because it creates added volume. If you do dye, just becareful of how often you do. I've updated my album btw.

Oh To Color Or Not To Color:
Lakia:
I think some highlights on single locks of your hair would be smashing baby. But that is just my little ol opinion.
Don:
Hey you,I agree that a person's personality does count. If going that route, my hair should every color of the seasons, except white. :-) Depending on the person's occupation, hair color may matter and it may not. However first appearances without ever opening your mouth are what people judge 65% of the time.
So even though some Honey Dip may be fine. If she smiles and you see a flash that says, "Bad Roads". Just like some bright hair colors, not so good. ;-)

Dewdrop:
I love your hair color on you and you have found what looks natural for your hair, I agree. I don't dye my hair and would not do it again after the install. Maybe some highlights later who knows. Lakia stated that dye will release some of the curl in the hair. So I wanted to do it for that reason alone. I look forward to seeing your new pics, keep blogging.
