Here I Come.....

Hair before sisterlocks..no perm
I'm so excited that I could do back flips that I have three weeks left before getting my sisterlocks. Oh yeah here I come, no more combing and brushing, no more buying hair supplies monthly and worrying about the wind, rain or snow rearranging my do. I'm so excited some times I get into the computer just to look at other peoples sisterlocks so I can think, dream of what mines will look like. Is it possible to be addicted to LOOKING at others sisterlocks LOL?
My installation date is 3/28/2008 and I can't wait to get this hair party started. I have brought new earrings and new colored lip gloss too.

Oh yeah 22 more days, I'm counting down again baby.......................
I was told that the thinner your hair the smaller your locks should be to create thickness over time. The thicker your hair the larger they should be to have styling options later without having to much hair to pull back. Also without sitting for four hours or more to get re-tightened. Anyone with small or micro locks experience this? I decided on medium across the entire top crown and large in the back where my hair to very full and thick.
Also what is this debate about leaving the ends of the hair loose and NOT cutting them off? If I have never had a perm then it is not considered to be leaving permed ends it is just leaving my hair loose. Lisa Bonet is a wonderful example of having long flowing healthy locks with loose ends. I likes it and I'm going to rock it,
I don't give a damm!
Any personal opinions on leaving loose ends?
Just 3 weeks left:
I'm rrrrreeeeaaaaddddyyyy!
( I'm singing that loudly by the way :-} ).

I'm not locked (yet) but if you keep blogging about your hair, I will be with you every step of the way.

Hello Brandi. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a message. It was hard to really gauge how much growth had occurred till I compared it to my one day picture. It has been a wonderful journey. I have no regrets. I'm excited for you and can't wait to see some pictures after your sl's are installed.

Thanks ladies for leaving comments I started the blog two months ago. I took photos of my test locks and my current hair and lenght and texture and all. I have several views but not many comments crazy, so I know I'm not the only one LOOKING and wishing that my hair adventure has started already.

Yeah i was the same at the beginning. I would spend hours looking at ppls pics, i think i got a lil obsessed. i understand your excitement as i couldnt wait til mine were installed. Enjoy your journey.

On the size thing, i have never heard that if you have thin hair you should have smaller locs. To me if your hair is thin then you shouldn't put small ones in as over time the thinness could cause it to break. But dont quote me on that. I have heard of ppl who had micros that had to combine them to combat the breakage. If you've discussed with your consultant i am sure she gave you gd advice

Khandi, I openly to all advice because with most things sometimes expierence is knowledge.
Really I think I am a blog viewing addict :-}!

I too was a Sisterlock blog and Nappturality junkie before locking.

I remember my consultant stating every person's hair, including natural, has a natural stopping point. I had loose ends after my install but b/c of my hair texture they became buds in no time.

As far as keeping loose ends.. I don't see why that would be a problem. It's your hair right? I think Naturally Sophia also keeps her ends loose.

Can't wait to see your install pics and I'm so excited for you!!!

After five months of being locked I still engage in looking at other blogs. Whether they are newbies or mature locks. I have found that bloggers are such an inspiration and have helped me re-affirm my decision to lock. I just hope I could be an inspiration to others.

On loose ends. My ends are either coiled or "S" shaped. I like my coil ends better. Personally I want my ends to be sealed. I love it when my ends begin to bud, and I often cut my "s" shaped ends to where the lock is beginning (my consultant does not like it when I do that) Hee Hee! I do agree, Lisa Bonet and Sophia ends are beautiful. I beleive you have to try to pick the ends open when they begin to lock. Or depending on your hair texture, it may just end up as an "S" shape like some of mines. Hope this helps

Meikmeika: I'm excited for me to and I love your hair by the way it is sexy and it frames your face. I'm starting to get the "No Locks Blues", on having two and a half weeks left to go now :-).
Crazy how many emotions I'm having about my hair.

Lakia:
I believe that most likely I will always go to other blogs and look and get their advice and read the stories in general. I love the connection that everyone feels about the decision to do something that is still seen as being Taboo.
I'm not all that excited about having to keep combing them out at the ends but after years of combing my hair. Combing the ends every week will be a welcome change. Our hair texture is the same so I may end up with the "S" shape on the ends so combing them out would look better, I think, maybe ;-). We will see.

I am still a sisterlocks blog/pictures junkie. Mainly because as this process continues I get upset with my hair not looking "just so" and I start trolling hair blogs so that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As for loose ends (as opposed to permed ends) I agree, I think Lisa Bonet's hair looks nice with loose ends.

Good luck!

What's Sup Trina, first I love how many thoughts you have and how you voice them openly but sweetly :-). I can't wait until I can start to voice my love or hate about my locks. The damm time is dragging like an old man walking across the street with training wheels on!
